Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $750,000)
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering and Tracking is seeking applications for planning up to three regional Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) workshops, and a National Symposium on Sex Offender Management and Accountability. Although the award will be made in 2016, it is anticipated that the National Symposium on Sex Offender Management and Accountability will be held in 2018.
Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) will provide support to implement up to three workshops and one National Symposium on Sex Offender Management and Accountability. Grant activities will include convening a planning committee of key stakeholders and constituents to shape a training needs assessment and to provide recommendations for event topics and faculty; implementation of a multi-disciplinary online training needs assessment; issuance of continuing education credits (CEUs) to attendees through the College; and the creation of distance learning resources from key workshop and symposium presentations. ca/nfc
