The Comprehensive Approaches to Sex Offender Management Training and Technical Assistance (CASOM) Grant Program, authorized by 42 U.S.C. 13941, supports training programs to assist probation officers, parole officers, and others who work with released sex offenders in the areas of case management, supervision and relapse prevention.

The Kentucky Department of Corrections will provide training specific to effective supervision, management and monitoring of sex offenders in Kentucky. The training will address the adult sex offender population and the gaps in current supervision/management practices.
Currently, Kentucky has approximately 7,397 registered sex offenders in the community, and the Department of Corrections currently houses 2,648 sex offenders, and supervises 1,454 sex offenders in the community. The Kentucky Department of Corrections has an organized Sex Offender Management Taskforce. The taskforce has been active since 2005 with a multi-disciplinary approach to sex offender management. Taskforce members include Department of Corrections' employees, prosecutors, law enforcement, criminal justice agency representatives, judges, victim advocate agencies, social service organizations, academics, faith-based agencies, substance abuse treatment services, and mental health treatment providers.
