The Comprehensive Approaches to Sex Offender Management Training and Technical Assistance (CASOM) Grant Program, authorized by 42 U.S.C. 13941, supports training programs to assist probation officers, parole officers, and others who work with released sex offenders in the areas of case management, supervision and relapse prevention.

The University of Illinois at Springfield will work in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) and the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) to improve sex offender management in Illinois. The three main activities the University and its partners will focus on are; a training workshop, an intensive evaluation of workshop success, and creation of a website for additional information sharing. All activity will be guided by the Illinois Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Advisory Group. A 3-day workshop will bring front line staff together, from probation and parole, along with treatment providers and law enforcement.
