Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $195,185)

The Comprehensive Approaches to Sex Offender Management Training and Technical Assistance (CASOM) Grant Program, authorized by 42 U.S.C. 13941, supports training programs to assist probation officers, parole officers, and others who work with released sex offenders in the areas of case management, supervision and relapse prevention.

The State of Colorado Division of Criminal Justice will assist local jurisdictions in improving their sex offender management policies and practices for both adult sex offenders and juveniles who have committed sexual offenses. Rural jurisdictions will receive assistance in assessing their current sex offender management system and training and technical assistance will be provided to support the development of research-based treatment, supervision and monitoring services. Sex offender management personnel who will receive training and technical assistance include supervisory personnel, treatment providers, caseworkers, victim advocates, and law enforcement.
