Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $246,230)

The Comprehensive Approaches to Sex Offender Management Training and Technical Assistance (CASOM) Grant Program, authorized by 42 U.S.C. 13941, supports training programs to assist probation officers, parole officers, and others who work with released sex offenders in the areas of case management, supervision and relapse prevention.

The Ohio Department of Youth Services and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections will work collaboratively to develop and provide training for effective supervision and community management; ensure compliance with Ohio's new treatment standards; and work towards achieving compliance with the Adam Walsh Act. The statewide Ohio Juvenile Sex Offender Management Advisory Committee will be responsible for the implementation of this project which will include: 1) regional training on content and development of a curriculum that will build training and technical assistance resources; and 2) evaluation of the training and implementation of Train-the-Trainer activities.
