Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $343,966)
The Shoshone-Paiute Tribes will use AWA funds to support activities necessary to help further its SORNA program to the next phase. Funds will be used to ensure continued compliance and enhancing the sex offender registry for the Duck Valley Indian Reservation (DVIR) of Idaho and Nevada; update SORNA compliance standards on DVIR to reflect any changes to national standards; continue to train key community members, leaders and staff; provide sexual assault prevention materials to the community and re-education materials for offenders to reduce recidivism; and develop partnerships off the reservation to increase the program’s resources and effectiveness for training, community outreach, policy-development and implementation.
