SMART FY 2024 Support for Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant Program: New Mexico Department of Public Safety

The New Mexico Department of Public Safety (NMDPS) Grants Management Bureau (NMDPS-GMB) will utilize AWA grant funds to support salary and fringe benefits for a Grants Management Analyst and Grants Management Support Staff. The NMDPS-GMB Management Analyst will be assigned to work on the day-to-day oversight of the award and perform financial and programmatic management duties. The support staff will provide oversight of the Management Analyst’s work. The grant will also fund travel to sex offender and grants management training; general office supplies; and other costs which include registration fees. Finally, NMDPS will partner with the New Mexico Corrections Department and Otero County Sheriff’s Office to 1) enhance and streamline sex offender monitoring and tracking; 2) increase the number of sex offender registrations; 3) decrease the number of sex offenders who are unregistered; and 4) provide the partnering law enforcement agencies with modern, evidence-based training, resources and tools for the enforcement of sex offender compliance with state and federal laws.
