Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $217,818)
The Yankton Sioux Tribe will use AWA grant funds to support continued SORNA activities, including monitoring and updating records for each registrant, as well as collecting DNA samples, fingerprints, and palm prints. The program aims to maintain a presence at Tribal functions and special events by distributing informational flyers and answering questions about SORNA. Lastly, Yankton Sioux’s SORNA Program intends to revise the Tribal Law and Order Code to align with the latest federal and state SORNA-related laws. Yankton’s SORNA program staff works closely with the SD State Registry, the Charles Mix County SORNA Office and with SD Probation.
