Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $308,157)
The Rhode Island Department of Public Safety will use AWA grant funds to maintain its sex offender registry staff positions (program coordinator and program analyst), which are essential to the overall integrity of the registration and notification process. Additionally, the long-term project of digitizing all existing hard copy sex offender records will further advance SORNA compliance, and enable all agencies to obtain accurate, consistent information in an efficient manner. The staff will also make certain each sex offender’s record is thoroughly researched and accurately reflected, obtain and share important documentation within the state or with other jurisdictions, and perform mandatory monthly NCIC sex offender record validations.
