Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $499,995)
The Justice Research and Statistics Association (JRSA) and the University of Massachusetts Lowell will carry out a project to support and advance the Sexual Violence Prevention Initiative (SVPI). Activities will include updating and maintaining existing literature review chapters and research briefs originally developed under the Sex Offender Management Assessment and Planning Initiative, and supplementing them with new literature reviews and briefs on topics of contemporary concern. In addition, JRSA will conduct a national inventory of sex offender-related policies and practices, sexual violence prevention efforts, and the ways sex offender-related programming augments SORNA. Further, the project will develop recommendations for the SMART Office on identified gaps and needs in research and practice, and how to leverage coordinated strategies and funding to address them. Finally, topical publications will be produced, targeted and framed for specific disciplines involved in sex offender-related work, as well as a series of webinars, presentations, and training courses.
