Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $364,000)
The Caddo Nation of Oklahoma SORNA program will work to accomplish the following program goals and initiatives: 1) develop and conduct training to include officer safety for criminal justice personnel responsible for sex offender registration, notification, monitoring, management, and investigations of failure to register; 2) enforcement of SORNA 21-day advance notice of international travel requirement; 3) enhance the infrastructure by getting TAP fully implemented during the grant period; 4) enhance the community education program on sex offender topics including collaboration of victim service agencies; 5) implement provision to records management; 6) implement revisions to the SORNA policies and procedures as approved by the Tribal Council and as reviewed by the SMART Office; 7) orient all tribal program personnel by providing information relative to the SORNA program, including ongoing collaborative efforts with other jurisdictions; 8) continue to enhance a public website to make information available to the public and promote public awareness and community safety in terms of sex offender registration; 9) enhance criminal justice information sharing at the jurisdiction level as well as between jurisdictions; thereby, enhancing victim and community safety; and 10) develop interagency, inter-tribal, and tribal-state collaborative agreement to enhance information sharing.
