FY 22 AWA Grant Program: Rhode Island Department of Public Safety

The Rhode Island Department of Public Safety will use grant funds to maintain support of Sex Offender Registry staff positions — the program coordinator and the program analyst — which are essential to the overall integrity of the registration and notification process. Funding will also support the long-term project of digitizing all existing hard copy sex offender records, which will help the state move closer to SORNA compliance, and enable all agencies to obtain accurate, consistent information in an efficient manner. Funds will also be used to pay the OffenderWatch yearly subscription fee. Staff will also make certain each sex offender’s record is thoroughly researched and accurately reflected, obtain and share important documentation within the state or with other jurisdictions, and perform mandatory monthly NCIC sex offender record validations.
