Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $399,994)

The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians will use grants funds to continue to identify, register, and monitor all convicted sex offenders who live on or enter the Red Lake Reservation, and will carry out at least 108 contacts with sex offenders during each year of the project; raise the incidence of community reporting of sex offender presence on the reservation by 25 percent or more over the current rate; conduct education/training sessions about the registry – what it does and has done, how to access it, how to use it, as well as the use of the Tribal Access Program. The Registry Office will also bring displays and information about the Registry to public events at Red Lake to build awareness of the functionalities among the broader community.
