Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $366,465)
Michigan State Police will use grant funds to support the establishment and implementation of state-wide quality assurance checks. The injunction and significant legislative changes effective March 24, 2021, left a residual gap in communication between law enforcement and registrants, presenting a significant need to address data validity and confirm the location of registrants. As a result, a substantial number of outdated offender records will need to be updated as offenders are located and brought back into compliance. Funds will also continue to support the departmental technician in performing second party checks; tracking registrants moving to and from Michigan; and uploading mailed-in and faxed registrant documents. These activities will enhance current processes and assist in meeting the increasing demands of the rapidly growing sex offender population in Michigan.
