Michigan SMART Project

The Michigan State Police (MSP) will use grant funds to establish and implement state-wide quality assurance checks to address the communication gap between law enforcement and registrants; support overtime pay for grant-funded staff and troopers; support a departmental technician position to provide continued support of data accuracy projects, perform second party checks, track registrants moving to and from Michigan and fulfill information requests; purchase wireless signature pads utilized during sex offender registration and verification; and increase information sharing with law enforcement to enhance officer safety via Michigan’s Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN).
