Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $400,000)
The purpose of this project is to maintain ongoing compliance with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act while protecting the people in Cherokee communities. Funding will be used to improve accuracy and information sharing; develop educational material to increase public awareness and to conduct trainings; develop new legislation and policies; expand the amount of information available to the public regarding registered sex offenders; and incorporate interagency efforts in the use of new technology to enhance the registration of offenders and information sharing within the Cherokee Nation Reservation.
