Kashan Alamin is a grants management specialist in the Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs. Ms. Alamin manages numerous awards under SMART Office grant programs, including the Adam Walsh Act Implementation Grant Program. She also assists with budget and appropriations-related matters pertaining to the programs administered by the SMART Office.
Prior to joining the SMART Office, Ms. Alamin was the staff chief for OJP’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer’s Budget Formulation and Appropriations Division. In this position, Ms. Alamin oversaw and managed OJP’s budget formulation operations and led the critical formulation phases of the budget, including planning, organizing, and reporting on the development and justification of OJP’s agency budget. She also led the formulation of OJP’s drug budget, as required by the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
Ms. Alamin received her B.A. in English literature with a minor in business administration from Howard University. She also has a Certificate of Public Leadership from the Brookings Institution’s Executive Education Fellowship Program.
