Aisha King

Grants Management Specialist

Aisha King is a grants management specialist for the Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs.

Prior to joining the SMART Office, Ms. King served as a special assistant and senior advisor to the Division Director of 988 Crisis Operations within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), where she performed complex administrative and technical duties auxiliary to the work of the Director. These tasks ranged from drafting, editing, implementing and providing research and analysis on policy, to developing short and long-term planning efforts to ensure that the Center’s programs were compliant with behavioral health legislation.

Prior to serving as a senior advisor, Ms. King was a grants management specialist at SAMHSA. In that role, she assisted in the formulation of new and modified grants management policies and procedures, administered and provided technical assistance and guidance in the administration of grant programs, and provided mentorship and training to new employees and interns.

Ms. King received her B.A. in psychology from Spelman College and a master's in public administration with a focus on criminal justice from Walden University. She also holds a certificate in project management from the Project Management Institute.
